Sculptra at Gilbert Perfect Skin
Sculptra is fast becoming a favorite filler for rejuvenating facial skin. This Unique "skin plumper" is rapidly changing the scope of cosmetic procedures. SCULPTRA also known as the liquid facelift that works by both filling in lines and wrinkles and by stimulating the body to produce new collagen and underlying tissue, thereby creating a fuller, more youthful appearance.
SCULPTRA is a new FDA-approved filler. SCULPTRA is an injectable form of poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable, biocompatible synthetic polymer from the alpha-hydroxy-acid family that has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, bone screws, and facial implants.

SCULPTRA is injected below the surface of the skin using a very fine needle, in the area of fat loss, providing a gradual increase in skin thickness. After your treatment it may appear that SCULPTRA worked immediately because of swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute SCULPTRA. In a few days, the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body. SCULPTRA takes time to gradually correct the depression in your skin. Most patients begin to see results after the 2nd or 3rd treatment, and continue to notice improvement for 6 months or more. It works by increasing the thickness of the skin and fills in what has been lost. Generally most people will need 3-4 treatments.
Results are gradual, depending on the type of results desired and the severity of the problem. Over time, the appearance is dramatically altered after multiple treatments. Once the desired look is achieved, this semi-permanent treatment lasts up to two years, but could require minor touch-ups.
SCULPTRA does not require skin testing prior to use, however you will need to discuss with the doctor whether you could be allergic to any ingredients and what medications you may be taking.
As with most injections, side effects, though minimal, could possibly occur. The most common are redness, swelling, bruising and pain around the treated area. Using icepacks immediately following treatment can minimize these effects.
Sculptra™ is contraindicated in those individuals who have shown a hypersensitivity to any of its components. Sculptra™ should not be injected in areas with active skin infection or inflammation. Avoid injection into theblood vessels. The most commonly observed adverse event was the delayed occurrence of subcutaneous papules, which were confined tothe injection site and were typically palpable, asymptomatic, and non-visible. Visible nodules, with or without inflammation or dyspigmentation, have also been reported. Other adverse events include immediate and transient injection-related events such as bleeding from the injection site, discomfort, erythema or inflammation, ecchymosis, and edema.
