What is a microdermabrasion?
A Microdermabrasion is a treatment that mechanically exfoliates the skin. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin. This is very important as it allows skin care products to penetrate more readily.
Exfoliation also makes the skin immediately appear more reflective. This light reflection makes the skin “glow”.
A small amount of collagen is also generated with each Microdermabrasion treatment. When microdermabrasions and chemical peels are done regularly each month the skin just gets better and better.
Microdermabrasion should not be confused with Dermabrasion. Dermabrasion is a true “resurfacing” of the skin. This removes a good portion of the skin, and relies on a deep wound followed by healing to achieve results. Dermabrasion is painful, expensive and has side effects and risks.
